The Desert Absolutely Free Theatre was put
together to do productions on a shoe string outdoors with free admission.
Because The Tempest was performed outdoors in a non-secured location,
all production equipment (lighting trusses, control boards, even the thunder
sheet) had to be struck after each performance and reset prior to each
show,
The lighting was set in 2 home built box
trusses and powered by 2 -20 amp circuits and controlled with a Dove Scenemaster
6 with a supplemental 3 channel box and 2 - 3 bay patch boxes. The
general light was from 6 Source 4 PAR WFLs in open white with PAR 56 MFLs
used for colored specials. The Balcony close-up fill was from a geled
shop flood!
The scenes below were captured from a home
video tape of the production.
